The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is checking out The Dow Chemical Co.’s plans to remediate dioxin in Midland soils and the Tittabawassee River flood plain. The DEQ plans to respond in April.

Meanwhile, the state is interested in what residents have to say about the plans

"We will take those comments into consideration," Al Taylor of the DEQ said, adding that when Dow was issued a notice of deficiency on its first submission of the work plan in December, public comment was a factor.

The revised Scopes of Work, outlining action plans, are available at the DEQ website
www.michigan.gov/tittabawassee. Go to the "related links" heading and select Dow Hazardous Waste Facility Operating License & Corrective Action Information. To comment, contact Cheryl Howe at the Waste and Hazardous Materials Division of the DEQ, P.O. Box 30241, Lansing, MI 48909, by phone at (517) 373-9881, or e-mail at howec@michigan.gov.
