Dow Responds to Negative Stock Report Friday, April 23, 2004 WSGW Newsradio 790 A financial analyst report about the hidden dangers of investing in the Dow Chemical's stock has leveled a response from the company. Dow says the report from Innovest Strategic Value Advisors contains no substantially new information. On the report's main assertion of transparency, Dow says it has provided information to investors regarding environmental matters in its Securities and Exchange Commission filings in compliance with legal requirements. Innovest states in the report released this week that Dow has not been as forthcoming as it should with its share holders in several areas including possible liability for Bhopal, the dioxin issue in the Tittabawassee and Saginaw river watershed and on-going financial obligations. Dow states the report is simply an advocacy paper by those who commissioned it which includes environmental groups like the Ecology Center. Dow says Innovest's report is not an objective assessment of the company. |
