The survey says "YES" but legally its "NO" for a local dioxin health study. The Michigan Department of Community Health randomly polled 1,000 Midland and Tittabawassee River residents earlier this year to get their opinion on a comparative dioxin exposure study. While both communities where in favor over 64%, agreed a government agency should do the study and Dow Chemical should pay - Doctor Linda Dykema of the state health department says there's a legal problem which forbids the state and federal health agencies from taking money from Dow. The company has stated several times it is willing to pay for an exposure study. The Department of Community Health says its not known when a study like the one presented in the survey will take place.
