(TV5-AP) Saginaw--Dow Chemical can talk with residents suing the company over dioxin contamination but they can't harass them. That's the ruling Saginaw County Circuit Court Judge Leopold Borrello handed down last week. It comes less than three months before he'll decide whether to certify the lawsuit involving nearly three residents as a class action.

Borrello says Dow attorneys have no right to the medical, insurance and employment records of residents. A Dow spokesman says the Midland-based company is disappointed it can't go after information "vital" for a ruling in the case.

The plaintiffs claim Dow released dioxins into the Tittabawassee River, which, in turn, threatens their health and land values.
